In a candid exchange the migrant said he believes “rich” English people can supply migrants with “anything they need”.

A migrant said he expects “rich” British people to give him “anything” in the UK, leaving a GB News presenter gobsmacked. Reporting live from Calais, France host Patrick Christys interviewed the migrant about to make the dangerous journey across the channel to England.

This week Sir Keir Starmer announced plans to tackle migration levels which he says has caused “incalculable” damage to British society, however he did not address illegal immigration in the white paper released by the Labour Party. In 2024, 36,816 people were detected crossing the English Channel in small boats from France to England. The figure is up 25% from 2023 when 29,437 people arrived in small boats. More than 12,000 migrants have crossed the Channel so far this year, making a record since the 2018 recording of these crossings began.

Patrick questioned migrants on their decisions to come to the UK instead of relocating to other countries who openly expressed their high expectations of Great Britain being able to supply them with “anything they need”.

One migrant told Patrick: “I think in England they can help me with anything, maybe.”

Patrick probed as to why Brits should help, the man replied: “We have a lot of people in Great Britain who need money and need a house.

“Maybe they can give me a house or anything they need.”

The same man went on to describe British people as “perfect” and when asked if he thought all Britons were rich, he simply replied: “Yes.”

In response Patrick said: “Let me tell you, we are not all rich people.”
