GB News viewers all make same demand for major presenter shake-up after axes

GB News fans were left impressed by a regular guest and made calls for her to become a permanent presenter on the show.

GB News viewers were left impressed by political commentator Clare Muldoon as she joined presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ellie Costello during Tuesday’s (April 2) breakfast programme. In addition to sharing her thoughts about the latest headlines, the guest issued a scathing response to Secretary of State for Education Bridget Phillipson, who spoke to the broadcasters about her plans to help children become “school-ready.”

The politician told Eamonn: “After the pandemic, school leaders have seen more and more children arrive to school sometimes wearing nappies, in pushchairs, not toilet trained not able to do things like put on their shoes or get their coats on. Those are the kind of practical things I do want to support parents to be doing ahead of their children starting school.” Speaking to Eamonn, mum-of-four Clare stated: “Whilst I applaud the wrap-around care in the instance of the under-five which is crucial, it has to be tacked at parental level as well,” as she went on to blast the government for “under infantilizing” parents, many viewers took to social with calls to make her a permanent feature on GB News. One wrote: “Claire Muldoon is brilliant at summing up and has oodles of common sense. Give her a job permanently.”

A second viewer agreed: “Well said Claire it is the parents responsibility to get their children school ready.”

Another added: “Why can’t Ellie be like Clare who has MORE charisma and Clare views are spot on.”

In response, a third defended the 31-year-old, praised the commentator and shared: “Ellie is young, she’s becoming more knowledgeable but Clare has years of time served.”

Speaking to the presenters, she continued: “There’s a dereliction in this country, too much of parents not doing their job. They’re under actually being infantilized now by people like this Government that we have.

Bridget Philipson on GB News

“Telling them ‘yes will roll out a tooth brushing campaign, we will give free meals for children,’ it’s not good enough.

“It completely and utterly negates the role of the parent and parental responsibility to do all these things for the parents, and whilst I get that children are very crucial and they need to be helped, it’s the parents who should be doing the job. Not the schools,” Clare blasted.

This comes after the Government confirmed the first wave of 300 school-based nurseries across the country, offering an average of 20 places per site and up to 6,000 new places in total.

In her announcement, Philipson said: “We said we’d act, and now we have. But this is just the beginning – we’ve set a hugely important milestone to get tens of thousands more children every year school-ready by age 5 as part of our Plan for Change.

“We’re raising the bar for early years, delivering on our manifesto commitments and building a system that gives every child the best start in life.”
