BBC Springwatch presenter flooded with support as she announces new baby arrival

The presenter took to Instagram to share adorable images of the newest addition to their family.

Springwatch and Dancing on Ice star Michaela Strachan has revealed her delight at becoming a grandmother. The 59-year-old posted a video clip comprised of sweet snaps of the new arrival to her Instagram explaining her step-son Thomas Chevallier welcomed a baby boy with partner Mikayla Humphries on Tuesday.

The natural history presenter, who has been a fixture on Springwatch since 2011, told her followers that Mikayla had given birth after a “long and stressful” labour which lasted 55 hours. “Today I became a Granny!! After an extremely stressful and exhausting labour, 55hrs, baby Huxley finally arrived!! So proud of my future daughter in law & my step son. Proud new parents. Me and granny, Jack were a wee bit emotional. Welcome to the world baby Huxley. So, so precious,” she wrote. In one image she can been seen beaming broadly as she cradled the newborn while Tom stands beside her. “Granny, dad Tom and baby Huxley,” she captioned it adding a yellow love heart at the end.

Fans were quick to flood the star’s comments with congratulations on the new arrival.

“Congratulations to all! It’s the most special thing becoming a granny,” one penned. “Congratulations to you all, it’s just the best being a grandparent x,” another agreed.

“Congratulations. Grandparent is the best job in the world, you will love it,” a third enthused. “Congratulations & all the best & U look so happy,” a fourth chimed in.

“Congratulations! It’s the best, having grandchildren,” a fifth enthused. “So precious, hope mum and little one are doing really well,” a sixth commented.
